NOW Recall of Phosphatidylserine Prompted by ConsumerLab Findings

On January 10, 2023, NOW Health Group issued a voluntary recall of two lots of NOW Phosphatidyl Serine Extra Strength 300 mg Softgels and Protocol For Life Balance Phosphatidyl Serine Extra Strength 300 mg Softgels after a company investigation confirmed some of the products were found to contain significantly less phosphatidylserine than claimed on the label.

The investigation was prompted by findings reported by ConsumerLab in its Phosphatidylserine Supplements Review published on January 4, 2023.

The recalled products can be identified by the following:

  • Product Name: NOW Phosphatidyl Serine Extra Strength 300 mg Softgels
  • Product Code: 2392, Lots: #3316650 and #3309243
  • Product Name: Protocol For Life Balance Phosphatidyl Serine Extra Strength 300 mg Softgels
  • Product Code: P2392, Lots: #3309194 and #3316624
[Update (4/25/24): Be aware that some NOW Phosphatidyl Serine 300 mg that was, according to NOW, "recalled" in January may still be available for sale. A CL member reported to us yesterday that bottles of the product sold by Amazon and delivered as recently as April 18 displayed lot numbers listed by NOW as having been recalled.]
